Description
Penhale Court, formerly known as Heysham House, is a house built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and is symmetrically designed with two storeys, an attic, and three bays. The windows are 20th-century top-hung casements that mimic sash windows without glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are timber canted bay windows. The doorway is framed by a moulded stone architrave and is sheltered by a Tuscan porch. A stone cornice gutter runs along the top, and there are gable chimneys. The front slope of the roof includes four roof windows. Each gable wall has three bays. Extensive renovation works were being carried out at the time of the survey.
