Description
Roeburnside is a house dating from the late 17th century that has been altered over time. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features a tile roof. The building has two storeys and the earliest part consists of three bays. The windows have rebated and chamfered surrounds, with the left-hand bay having plain stone lintels. The middle bay's windows were originally designed as two lights, while the right-hand bay's windows were designed as three lights. There are doors with plain reveals located between the first and second bays, and between the second and third bays. To the left of the original structure is a one-bay addition, which is said to have been a stable. This addition has windows with plain reveals and a door on the left side, also with plain reveals. There are chimneys located to the right and left of the original house and to the right of the left-hand bay. Inside, the middle room of the original house features exposed ceiling joists, two chamfered main ceiling joists, and a firehood bressumer that has a mortise for a heck post. The current shouldered fireplace is of 18th-century style.
