Description

The Hodgson tomb, located approximately 7 metres east of the Church of St Wilfrid, is an early 18th century tomb chest made of sandstone. The corners feature square balustered panels, while the north and south sides each have two raised and fielded panels. The west side is adorned with a carved hourglass, and the east side displays a carving of a skull and crossed bones. The cover slab is moulded and bears worn inscriptions that read: 'Marmaduke Hodgson, 1720.[?]'
