5/58 Middle Salter Farmhouse and barn - adjoining to north-wese

House and barn, late C17th and early C19th. Sandstone rubble. Original part of house pebbledashed with slate roof; remainder has abestos sheet roof. Originally of end baffle-entry plan. 2 storeys. Windows have rebated and chamfered surounds. At the left on the ground floor is one formerly of 4 lights, with the central king mullion remaining and with a door with plain reveals inserted into the right-hand lights. To the right is a window with one mullion remaining. On the 1st floor are 2 windows. At the right is a wide single-storey gabled porch with a roof of stone slate and a door with plain reveals. Adjoining to the right is a one-bay addition to the house, and a barn, both of the same build. The house bay has sashed windows with glazing bars and plain stone surrounds. To the right is a wide barn entrance with plain reveals and segmental arch. Above it is a pitching hole. To the right is a door with plain reveals. Chimney to right of original house. Inside, the right-hand original room has exposed chamfered ceiling joists and a firehood bressumer with heck post.
