Description
Low Moor Head, also known as the eastern house, is a late 17th-century building that has been altered, with an adjoining barn that may date from the early 19th century. The structure is built of slobbered rubble and features a stone slate roof. It stands two storeys tall, with the left-hand part likely being an addition.
To the left of the porch, there is a window with two large lights and a central mullion, framed by a stone surround. On the first floor, there are two windows with plain reveals, along with a blocked light to the left of the right-hand window. Above the right side of the porch, there is a straight joint. To the right of the porch, each floor has a rebated and chamfered window, which was originally of three lights, retaining one mullion. Next to this is a door with plain reveals, aligned with a straight joint in its right-hand jamb. Above the outer porch door, which also has plain reveals, is a re-set embattled lintel inscribed with 'AS 1683'. The house features chimneys on the left-hand gable and to the right of the porch.
Inside, the left-hand section has axial chamfered main ceiling joists. The right side contains farm buildings. Immediately to the right, under the same roof, there is a ground floor window with two lights, rebated and chamfered, and two blocked two-light chamfered windows above. There is also a door with plain reveals on this side. The main barn, which is taller than the house, has a wide entrance with an external sliding door. To the left, there is a smaller doorway with a similar door, and to the right, another door with plain reveals. Adjacent to the left-hand door is a window with plain reveals, and on the first floor to the left, there is a blocked chamfered one-light window.
