Description
Beech House is a pair of houses dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century. The building is constructed of pebbledashed rubble with sandstone dressings and features a slate roof. No. 96 has a central entry plan with two units and end stacks, while No. 94 is an additional unit to the right. The structure stands two storeys high with an attic. All windows have plain stone surrounds. No. 96 features a sashed window to the left of the door and a double window to the right, which has a reconstructed surround with one sash and one fixed light separated by a wide mullion. On the first floor, the central window has a semi-circular head, while the other two windows are 6-light sashes. No. 94 has a doorway with plain reveals, a modern window in a plain stone surround to the right, and a similar window on the first floor. The left-hand gable of No. 96 includes an attic window with plain reveals and a wooden lintel, as well as a corbelled wooden frame that supports a chimney cap, indicating a former firehood. There is a later wing added to the rear.
