Description
Yew Tops Cottage, built in 1674, is a pair of houses located on Main Street in Warton. The buildings are constructed of pebbledashed rubble and feature a steep slate roof. They follow a 2-unit central-entry plan, with No. 65 on the left side having a third unit. The cottages are three storeys high, with an attic in No. 65. All windows are sashed with plain reveals. No. 67 has two windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor. The door of No. 67 has plain reveals and a cyma moulded battlemented lintel inscribed with 'HH RH 1674'. No. 65 features a window to the left and a door to the right within a plain stone surround, along with two windows on the first floor. The right gable of No. 67 includes a modern sashed window with glazing bars and plain reveals on the first floor, as well as a chimney stack with a round cap supported by stone corbels at first floor level. Between Nos. 65 and 67 is another round chimney cap, accompanied by a rectangular cap on the left-hand gable. There are later extensions at the rear of the buildings.
