Description
Washington House is a 17th-century house located on the east side of Main Street, Warton. The house is constructed of pebbledashed rubble with sandstone dressings and hammer-dressed limestone quoins, and has a modern tile roof. It is a two-story, three-bay building with gable stacks. The windows have plain stone surrounds. To the left of the front door is a modern sash window with glazing bars. To the right is a double window with a square mullion, each side featuring glazing bars, with one light opening as a casement. The first-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars. The door surround is chamfered. A section of a datestone, ‘R L A 96’, has been re-set to the left of the centre window on the first floor, and another, ‘IR. 1612 RS’, is located to the right of the window. The right-hand gable features a large projecting stack with offsets.
