Description
Shepherd's Farmhouse is a house built in 1705, featuring painted brick with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. The building has a T-plan layout and stands two storeys tall with attics, comprising six bays and a plinth. The windows are of two lights, rebated and chamfered, with mullions. There is a continuous cyma-moulded drip course above the ground floor, and a brick string course above the first-floor windows. The front door is framed by an architrave with '17 TSE 05' inscribed on the frieze and topped with a cyma cornice. The gables are finished with copings and kneelers, and there are chimneys located between the first and second bays and on the right-hand gable. The right-hand gable wall features two attic windows with plain brick reveals, while the left-hand gable wall has a two-light mullioned attic window. The right-hand (east) wall of the rear wing includes a cross window that illuminates the stair. Inside, there is an open-well stair with a closed string, square newels, turned balusters, and a moulded handrail. In the attic above the front part of the house, there are two trusses with crucks that have been reused as principals.
