Description
The barn on the north-east side of the farmyard at Norbrick Farm dates back to 1718. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and cobble, topped with a stone slate roof. The west wall features a wide entrance under a canopy, which has a segmental arch with '1718' inscribed on the keystone. To the right of this entrance is a later extension, while to the left, the barn projects forward to the front of the canopy and has a plinth. There are two modern windows on this side, and above them are five ventilation slits with plain stone surrounds. The north gable wall contains two blocked shippon doors, and between them is a wide entrance with a sliding door. Above this entrance are two pitching doors with plain stone surrounds, and under the apex is a third similar doorway, which is now blocked. There are later lean-to additions against the east wall. Inside, the barn features trusses with king posts that are braced to the principals. North of the main entrance, the barn is divided across its width by a wall that has a tall pointed diaphragm arch with a plain stone surround.
