Description
The Old Farmhouse, located on the north-west side of the farmyard at Middleton Brows Farm, dates from the early 18th century and is currently unoccupied. It is constructed of slobbered rubble and features a roof made of slate and stone slate. The house has a double-pile plan and consists of two storeys with two bays.
On the ground floor, the left window has a rebated and chamfered surround with one remaining mullion, while the right window is a sashed window with a plain stone surround. The first floor features two sashed windows with chamfered surrounds; the central mullion has been removed, and the sill has been lowered. The door located between the bays has a moulded surround, and there are gable chimneys with left-hand gable coping.
Adjoining the farmhouse to the east is a barn, which likely dates from the early 19th century and has a slate roof. There is a lean-to addition against the front wall of the barn. To the left of the barn is a door with plain reveals and a pitching hole above it, while to the right is a wide entrance featuring a segmental arch. Inside the barn, the trusses are made of softwood, with ties and light collars.
