Description

Ye Olde Farm House at Middleton Tower Holiday Camp is a late 17th-century building, with alterations made in 1844. The structure is made of rendered rubble and features a slate roof. It stands two storeys tall, with the main range facing northeast and a projecting gabled wing.

To the right of the wing, there are three bays. The left bay has a blocked ground-floor window with a rebated and chamfered surround above it. The middle bay contains mullioned windows with three lights on the ground floor and one remaining mullion on the first floor. The right bay has a blank ground floor and a window with plain reveals on the first floor. A chimney is located to the right of the second bay.

To the left of the wing, there are two additional bays. The ground floor features a large window on the left and a door, both with modern timber surrounds. The first-floor windows have chamfered stone surrounds, with the left window being a sash with glazing bars. There is also a chimney on the left-hand gable and between the bays.

The gable wall of the projecting wing showcases a large six-light mullioned and transomed window on the ground floor, along with a cross window above, both of which have hoods. Under the apex of the gable, there is a plaque inscribed with 'GDS (?) 1844'. At the rear of the building, there are three gabled wings, with the left-hand one featuring a chamfered surround and a battlemented lintel inscribed with '1676 IBE'. The interior was not fully accessible during the survey.
