Description

The War Memorial in Mercer Park, Clayton-le-Moors, was built around 1920. It is made of ashlar stone and features two large bronze statues on a high square-plan plinth. One statue depicts an infantryman in battle uniform, standing confidently with his hands resting on the muzzle of a rifle. The other statue is a draped female figure, with one arm resting on the infantryman's shoulders and the other arm pointing forward.
