Description
Holt Mill Cottages is a pair of cottages, likely built in the mid-18th century, that have been converted into a single house. They are constructed from coursed sandstone rubble, which has been whitewashed, and feature a slate roof with gable chimneys, one of which is made of brick. The building has a double pile, two-bay plan and stands two storeys tall with a symmetrical façade. Originally, there were two doorways in the center; one is now blocked, while the other is sheltered by a gabled porch that has a stone slate roof, a stone side bench, and an inner studded door. Each floor has two three-light windows with flush stone mullions. At the rear, there are two similar windows, one on the ground floor that has been partly altered, and another on the first floor with only two lights, along with a sliding sash window that features glazing bars. The cottages are located at the left end of a short row, with Holt Mill House at the other end; however, the barn that connects them in the center is not included in this listing.
