Description
The former stable to the rear of the Talbot Hotel on Clifton Street is a building from the early 19th century that has been altered and is now used as a store. It features walls made of cobble with red brick corners, some red brick bands on the gable wall, and red brick surrounds for the openings. The building has a slate roof and a rectangular plan that runs parallel to the street. It is two storeys high and likely consists of four structural bays. There is a central doorway, a large circular pitching hole above it, a small segmental-headed window to the right of the doorway, and another doorway at the right-hand end. This structure is noted as a good example of local cobble-walled buildings, of which very few have survived.
