Description

Pointer House is a farmhouse, likely built in the mid-17th century, with an early extension added to the north end. It was renovated in 1967 and is now used as a house. The structure is primarily brick, featuring some stone quoins at the lower level, and has a thatched roof that is set between crow-stepped gable parapets. There are two chimneys: one on the ridge at the junction of the first and second bays, and another on the right gable.

The building has a three-bay baffle-entry plan, with a fourth bay added at the right end. It is two storeys tall and faces away from the road. The front includes a modern single-storey gabled porch at the junction of the first and second bays, with four windows on the ground floor and five above. Most of these are horizontal rectangular casements with glazing bars, found in variously altered openings. However, the windows in the first floor of the first bay and the ground floor of the third bay are likely original. There is a vertical joint at the junction of the third and fourth bays, along with a lean-to addition on the right.

At the rear, which faces the road, the third bay projects slightly forward in a shallow outshut, which continues with an addition. This bay has a lean-to porch, while the second and first bays have altered windows with three, two, two, and two lights, with the second of these being blocked. All these windows feature a continuous hoodmould. At the first floor, each bay has a small casement with three, three, two, and two lights, all with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected but is believed to contain an inglenook fireplace with a moulded bressumer and heck with a peephole, as well as two moulded beams.
