Description

The Trealis Church of England Primary School, along with its attached master's house, was built in 1872 by James Hibbert of Preston. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and slate roofs, featuring tall clustered chimneys. It has an H-shaped layout, with a prominent gabled crosswing dedicated to the school on the right and the house on the left, connected by a two-bay central link.

The house wing is two storeys high, the central section is 1½ storeys, and the single-story schoolroom wing is full height. Decorative brick bands are visible at the plinth level and at the first floor, with the latter appearing sawtoothed and featuring dogtoothed detailing below. Matching bands adorn the three-flue chimneys on the house's ridge and the four-flue chimneys on the central link, which have prominent moulded caps.

The centre of the building incorporates a school entrance dated 1872 on the lintel, a single-light window to the left, and coupled eight-pane sash windows to the house. Two similar gabled dormers are also present. A lean-to porch is located in the re-entrant angle of the house's left side, and the gable to the left has a triple window on the ground floor and a paired window above. The school wing to the right features three tall, stepped lancet windows with glazing bars and hoodmoulds, each with a moulded and sawtoothed apron. The return wall, featuring five buttressed bays, has three-light sash windows in the three inner bays. All gables and gablets are finished with moulded kneelers, stone copings, and finials; the finial on the school gable is raised on a conical base, but appears damaged.
