Description
The Derby Arms Inn is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, with an early 19th-century addition. It now serves as a public house and restaurant. The original section is constructed of whitewashed handmade brick and features a thatched roof set between raised gable parapets. Initially consisting of two bays, it has been extended to three bays and stands two storeys high. The first two bays have a brick band and each bay contains two segmental-headed sliding sash windows on both floors, with three lights on the ground floor and two lights above. The added third bay has larger windows, also with three and two lights, and includes stone sills. Attached to the left gable is the early 19th-century addition, made of white painted brick with a hipped slate roof. This addition is symmetrical and two storeys tall, featuring a round-headed doorway with a keystone and imposts, two 16-pane sash windows on the ground floor, and three above, all with stone sills. The interior has been altered.
