8/147 Canal Bridge No. 72 (Idle Bridge) - at SD 596 146 - II

Bridge, over Leeds - Liverpool Canal (originally Lancaster Canal South End); probably 1790s. Stone. Elliptical arch with triple keystone; buttressed piers at each end of walls which are battered and curve inwards towards centre; with bands, parapets with rounded coping.
