Description

The building located approximately 30 metres west of the barn at Shaw Place is a Grade II listed structure, likely dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone, featuring an ashlar ground floor front, and has a roof made of stone slates. The building has a rectangular plan with seven bays and stands two storeys high, with the ground floor of the rear wall built against the slope of the field.

The facade is symmetrical, with a chamfered plinth on the front and end walls. The front features a flat floor band, a central doorway, and additional doorways at each end. The left and centre doorways have two mullioned lights above them. Above the central doorway, a square stone frame rises from the band. On either side of the central doorway are two cross windows, with some remaining cast iron diamond latticed glazing. The flat floor has six oval bullseyes, all of which are blocked. The left gable includes a flat floor door flanked by square windows, while the rear has a square pitching hole and two square windows with glazing bars.

Inside, the building features various moulded beams, including one with stops, which appears to have been extended to fit the current location. The building is currently used as a hay store.
