Description
Dill Hall is a farmhouse, or possibly a pair of farmhouses, with parts dating back to 1725 but likely originating in the 17th century. The building has been altered and is now divided into two dwellings. It is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble with large quoins, featuring roofs made of stone slates and slates. There is one ridge chimney at the junction, a gable chimney made of brick, and a modern brick chimney near the front.
The structure consists of two elements, each with two bays. The left half is L-shaped, with a two-storey rear wing extending from the second bay and a single-storey extension from the first bay. The right half is double-pile with a separately ridged rear roof and an outshut at the back of the third bay, which overlaps the wing of the second bay. The left half has been recently restored and modernised, showcasing two restored four-light stone mullion windows at the ground floor, with modern three-light casements above. At the right end, there is a door with a stone lintel inscribed with the letter "W."
The right half features two tall casement windows from 1725 with stone heads on each floor, as well as two similar windows on the right return wall. There is a modern glazed porch at the front, with an older stone porch located behind it, and an old round-headed single-light window in the rear gable. The rear wall includes a three-light stone mullion window at the ground floor of the wing and a hollow-chamfered gable coping adorned with a primitively carved head at the apex. The interior of the left half has been altered, while the right half has not been inspected.
