Description

The gatepiers located approximately 200 meters west of Hoghton Tower are likely from the 18th century. They are constructed from dressed sandstone and consist of four gatepiers. There are two inner piers and two widely spaced outer piers, all of which are square in shape and very tall. The piers feature rusticated masonry, cornices, plain friezes, and prominent moulded caps. The inner and outer piers on each side are connected by a low stone wall, which does not have railings.
