Description

The Oak Mount Mill Engine House is an engine house for a cotton mill, likely built between 1870 and 1880. It is constructed of brick and features a slate roof, with a rectangular plan oriented east-west. The building has one high storey and includes four tall round-headed windows, each adorned with triple keystones and small-paned glazing. The gable copings are topped with ball finials. The west gable has a single window that matches the overall style, while the east gable has been covered by later additions. The interior has not been inspected, but it contained a steam engine when it was listed in 1982. This engine house is part of a group with the associated mill chimney.
