Description

New Hall Bridge is a road bridge that spans the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, built around 1790 to 1796 and designed by engineer Robert Whitworth. The bridge is constructed from coursed squared sandstone and features a semi-elliptical arch made of rusticated voussoirs. It has a plain band and parapets with ridged coping. The abutments are concave and curved, ending in rectangular terminal piers. The bridge has a humped deck that retains some sandstone paving.
