Description
St David Haigh and Aspull Church of England Primary School and School House is a school and former master's house built in 1846. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof with a tile crest. The building is one storey high, with nine bays, while the first bay is two storeys. The first, fifth, and ninth bays project forward under gables that have decorative bargeboards. It has wide eaves and verges.
The windows are designed with hollow-chamfered architraves and label moulds, featuring small-paned casements typical of the Haigh estate. The first bay includes a round-headed window with Y-form glazing bars on the first floor, while the ninth bay has a bull's eye window on the first floor. The central bay contains two entrances, both with hollow-chamfered architraves and label moulds, and an elongated octagonal plaque with an architrave above it, along with a sundial set in a round-headed architrave at the gable.
There are two cross-axial stacks with clustered octagonal shafts. A flight of nine steps leads up to the entrances. The returns of the building also feature gabled bays that project forward with entrances.
