Description
The Estate Office and Cottage, located to the north of Winstanley Hall, was built in 1884. It is constructed from rock-faced stone and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys with an attic and consists of two bays. Notable architectural details include two bands of lozenge mouldings positioned below the ground floor and above the first floor windows, as well as at the top gable. The corners are accentuated with rusticated quoins, and there is a central pilaster above the entrance. The windows are framed with rusticated architraves, with most being three-light recessed-chamfered-mullioned windows that have small-paned casements, although some have been replaced. The attic contains two pointed lights. The ground floor windows have a sill course that is interrupted by a lintel above the entrance, which features a 20th-century door. A plaque that has been re-set is inscribed with "WINSTANLEY/ESTATE/OFFICE/1884".
There is a one-storey, two-bay connecting block that has an entrance and 20th-century windows on the left side, with a pointed window on the right. The cottage is also two storeys and has two bays with a hipped roof. The ground floor features a pointed window, while the first floor has a two-light small-paned casement. The entrance is plain. On the left return, there is a trefoil-headed window with shafts, a moulded arch, and decorative glazing. A rear lateral stack is present. This building is included for its group value.
