Description
Wigan Lodge and gate piers to Winstanley Hall were built around 1818 and are made of stone. The lodge is two storeys high and has a rectangular plan with a rear extension. It features a top cornice and a parapet. The facade facing the street includes a rectangular bay window with a cornice and parapet, along with 1:3:1-light double-chamfered-mullioned windows that have transoms and label moulds. The left side has a 3-light double-chamfered-mullioned window with a label mould on each floor. The right side has a lateral stack and a cast iron rainwater head. The rear extension includes a pulvinated frieze and four rectangular rusticated gate piers topped with entablature caps. In the center, there are pierced cast iron gates with some ornamentation, while the outer openings are fitted with 20th-century boarding fences, and the wall sweeps forward to the left.
