Description
The boundary wall and gateways to the south and west of the Church of St John the Divine were likely built around 1832 and have been altered since. The structure is made of coursed squared sandstone rubble topped with rounded coping, featuring dressed stone gate piers and wrought iron gates. The wall surrounds the west and south sides of the churchyard and stands approximately 2 meters high. The gateways are aligned with the west and south doorways of the church and are marked by octagonal piers that have chamfered plinths, trefoil friezes, and shallow octagonal caps, although the east pier of the south gateway has been rebuilt. The gateways include pairs of elaborate wrought-iron gates and form a group with the Church of St John the Divine.
