Description
The entrance lodge to Mesnes Park, likely built in 1878, has been enlarged and altered over time. It is constructed from snecked sandstone with some half-timbering, and features brick at the west end and rear, topped with slate roofs. The building has an irregular plan and is designed in a Vernacular Revival style, comprising one-and-a-half and two storeys.
On the lower left side next to the gateway, there is a projecting gabled porch that includes a recessed side door and wooden balustrading, along with a half-timbered gable. The gable-end facing the street has a boarded window and a jettied plastered gable decorated with incised floral motifs. The two-storey section, which was added later and is set back to the right, features a doorway and a large rectangular bay window on the ground floor, two windows above, and a jettied half-timbered gable above the bay window. At the time of inspection, the lodge was unoccupied and boarded up.
