Description
The Market House is a market hall built in 1879. It features pink header bond brick and yellow Flemish bond brick with a slate roof. The structure consists of five by three bays in a classical style. It has a brick plinth, a dentilled cornice, and a parapet over the first and third bays, with a pediment and central clock above the second bay. Each bay includes a large semi-circular light at a high level, separated by brick pilasters with fluted bases. The central bay projects slightly and displays the name and datestone in the frieze. The side elevations have similar openings, pilasters, and cornice, along with doorways in the second and fourth bays. The glazed canopies are of a later date and are not considered of special interest.
