Description
Number 49 and the adjoining building comprise a house, cottage, and barn dating from the mid-18th century, with later additions. The structure features squared rubble, while the barn is constructed of watershot stone, topped with a slate and graduated stone slate roof. The house is a two-bay, double-depth design with a central entrance, accompanied by an L-shaped cottage to the right and a 19th-century barn door to the left, with the barn located at the rear.
The building has a projecting plinth and a square-cut stone door surround. On the ground and first floors, there are two 4-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows, although the upper window has two mullions removed. The second floor has two 3-light flat-faced windows. The eaves feature shaped gutter brackets, and there are three chimney stacks. The cottage has two 3-light windows, also with removed mullions. The barn door to the left is characterized by a segmental keystone arch and shaped voussoirs, with a window above that has a skew lintel and sill.
