Description

The Lower Roe Cross Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from 1719, as indicated by a datestone. It is constructed of squared rubble, largely rendered, with a graduated stone slate roof. The house is double-depth and originally two bays, with a rear wing and a later bay added to the left, likely in the late 18th century. It has a projecting plinth. The front features a four-light flat-faced stone mullion window, a casement window, and a door on the ground floor. Above are two similar four-light windows with hoodmoulds. A large-pitched roof porch is present to the left, containing a semi-circular-headed opening. The added bay to the left features a lower roofline and incorporates two-light flat-faced mullion windows on both floors, the ground floor window having a hoodmould. There are three chimney stacks. To the rear are further windows, including two- and three-light chamfered mullion windows.
