Description

The icehouse at Broadbottom Hall is a late 18th century or early 19th century structure. It is an earth-covered building with its entrance located on the north side, featuring a short flight of stone steps flanked by low walls. There is a boarded entrance door set beneath a stone semicircular arch. This door opens onto another flight of steps that leads into the interior, which is designed with a cross barrel vault made of coursed sandstone that rises from low side walls. The icehouse is situated close to Broadbottom Hall, with which it forms a group.
