Description
This is a farmhouse, now used as a barn and stable, dating to 1604, though substantially altered in later centuries. The construction is of coursed rubble, watershot stone, and brick, with a slate and graduated stone slate roof. It is two storeys high, featuring a central two-storey porch and an 18th-century cottage wing added to the left. A stone plinth and quoins are visible. The central porch has a chamfered door surround with a dated lintel, a continuous band on the first floor, and a coped gable with kneelers incorporating a dovecote. A two-light double-chamfered stone mullion window is located on the first floor of the porch, with the mullion subsequently removed. To the left of the porch are two three-light chamfered stone mullion ground floor windows, and two flat-faced three-light first floor windows. 19th-century doors have been inserted on both sides, with the right side also featuring two two-light windows, one with a removed mullion. The right-hand elevation displays two five-light double-chamfered mullion windows. The roof was replaced with a hipped design in the 20th century. The 18th-century cottage wing has a door and a two-light flat-faced mullion window on each floor. The interior has undergone extensive changes and the original walls, floors, and roof structure have been removed. The rear wall is constructed of 20th-century brick.
