Description
The conservatory at Cringle, dated 1882 as indicated by a leaded glass panel, features a brick plinth and a timber structure with leaded glass panes. It has a T-shaped plan, with the door centrally located in the stem of the T, which has canted corners. The entrance consists of double doors with a semi-circular head, flanked by side colonnettes and topped with a dropped keystone. The head of the T extends 5 bays deep and projects 2 bays on either side. Each bay is defined by a pilaster with a central roundel and contains leaded lights, with the lower panes showcasing a brightly coloured painted glass panel by R Sabonchi, depicting oriental figures and shrubbery. The conservatory also features a timber eaves cornice, a roof with curved glass lower panes, a decorative clerestory with a curved glass roof, and a pierced ridge board with finials at the ends.
