Description

Lomber Hey House is a 17th-century house located in High Lane, Marple. It features coursed rubble construction, with some parts rendered, and has a graduated stone slate roof. The building has an irregular plan with two and three storeys, where the rear range is lower and has been significantly altered.

The house includes two gabled wings; the left wing projects forward, is rendered, and has three casement windows. The right wing features two three-light chamfered mullion windows on the ground floor, likely from the 19th century, and two casement windows on the first floor, both topped with ball finials.

The main block to the right has three bays and three storeys, with a projecting plinth and continuous dripmoulds on the first and second floors. It has a 20th-century porch on the left side, two casement windows on the ground floor, and three on both the first and second floors. The gables are coped and also topped with ball finials, and there is a sidewall chimney stack.

On the right gable, there is a three-light chamfered mullion window on the ground floor, a similar window on the second floor with a hoodmould, and a casement window on the first floor. A square opening in the gable features a carved stone face. The rear range has a separate roof and has been raised at some point with brick.
