Description

The Old Court House is a house, dated 1772 as indicated by the initials “GWM” on the rainwater head, though it has been altered in subsequent years. The building is constructed of coursed dressed stone, with some parts rendered, and has a graduated stone and slate roof. A ridge stack is present. It is composed of three bays over two storeys, with a lean-to addition on the left side.

The front gable has a four-light double-chamfered mullion window on the ground floor and a three-light recessed flat-faced mullion window above, both with small hoodmoulds and ornate leaded lights. A wall-mounted sundial in the gable is inscribed with the words "Be gone about your business”. A door is situated within an outshut on the right side, which projects to align with a two-storey gabled wing. This wing features a three-light window on the ground floor and a four-light window on the first floor. The left side of the building has two, two and three-light flat-faced mullion windows, alongside the rendered lean-to addition.
