Description

Castle Hill Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, now a house, located in Werneth, Bredbury. It is a box-framed building with a stone plinth, a graduated stone slate roof, and a brick stack. The farmhouse originally comprised one and two structural bays, with a small wing to the rear, all of two storeys in height. A lean-to porch has been added to the left side, and a brick extension to the right. The stone plinth has a 20th-century stone facing. The square panel framing, featuring diagonal braces, has been boarded over to replicate the original pattern. Replacement 20th-century casement windows are now fitted in each elevation. Inside, two ovolo-moulded and carved beams remain.
