Description

This is a farmbuilding with accommodation for labourers, located to the west of Mellor Hall and north of a barn. The building features the inscription "IC 1692" on the door lintel. It is constructed from dressed stone and has a roof made of graduated stone slate and 20th-century tiles. The structure consists of 8 bays and has 2 storeys, along with a rear outshut. Notable architectural details include stone quoins, a coped gable with kneelers, and a blocked door opening in bay 1. There are window openings in bays 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8, with bay 8 having 2 mullions removed. Bay 3 contains a segmental arched cart entry. There is a dated lintel above the door opening in bay 7, and the first floor features 2 pitching eyes as well as a 3-light double-chamfered stone mullion dormer window with a coped gable and kneelers. Additionally, there is a pointed arch loft opening on the left gable above 2 later openings.
