Description
This boundary stone, located at the junction with Bury Old Road, dates from 1853 and is made of ashlar. It has a triangular shape and is inscribed with "PRESTWICH/ SALFORD," while the chamfered top reads "BOUNDARY STONE." This stone marks the boundary along Singleton Brook between Prestwich (in Bury) and Salford. It was likely erected in 1853, coinciding with the unification of the three townships of Broughton, Pendleton, and Salford into the new County Borough of Salford. It is part of a group that includes other boundary stones on Bury Old Road and Littleton Road.
