SD 80 SW SCHOLES LANE 10/125 Middle part of main - block of Nazareth House

Late C18, mansion. built by Scholes family of Prestwich. Reddish-brown brick. 2 ample storeys. Symmetrical. 5 large windows with fixed glazing bars, evidently a C20 approximation to originals. Part-glazed door within substantial porch of paired Ionic columns, entablature and blocking course. Hipped slate roof behind low parapet over cornice (with flat brackets) which is also formed into pediment crowning 3 slightly advanced middle bays. Slightly set back on the left is a 2-bay wing, evidently contemporary, continuing the same treatment but with smaller, genuine sash windows.
