Description
Manor Park Rest Home is a house, now functioning as an old people's home, built in the mid-19th century. It features coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and has a hipped slate roof with a ridge stack. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with a prominent cornice of dentils along the eaves. The entrance front includes a band between the storeys and a tetrastyle Tuscan portico. The first-floor windows, with the central one being tripartite, are adorned with moulded architraves. The ground floor windows are similar and have bracketed hoods. There is an additional bay on the ground floor to the left, which matches the detailing of the main façade. The left return of the building has a three-bay section with a projecting pedimented centerpiece that features a Venetian stair-window filled with fine painted glass. To the right, there is a three-storey service wing. Inside, the building is richly detailed with moulded plasterwork and doorcases. The central hall boasts an elaborate chimney piece, panelling, and an Elizabethan style screen at the foot of the staircase. The building was previously known as Bent Hill.
