Description

This is a row of four houses located on Barton Road. They were likely built around 1800. The houses are constructed of rendered brick with a slate roof. Each house has two bays and two storeys, with a rear wing. The front facade of each property features a central, originally boarded door, though the door at number 14 has been replaced with a glazed door. Flanking the door are three-light casement windows on each floor, most of which are now replacements. A stone eaves cornice runs along the top of the front elevation, and there are five ridge chimney stacks. The rear wings also have cornices. It is believed that the houses were built to provide accommodation for workers on the Bridgewater Estate.
