Description
This large barn, located to the north of Ashworth Fold Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century and features coursed watershot stone dressings along with slate and stone slate roofs. The rear and end sections are constructed from brick. The barn consists of two parallel stone ranges at the front, with a brick addition on the left side.
A segmental-headed cart entry is positioned approximately in the center, showcasing stone voussoirs and a herringbone patterned keystone, although this entry has been bricked up. To the right of this entry is a semi-circular headed barn door, with a blocked door to its left and square pitching doors for hay lofts on both sides. On the left side, there is a door with a square-cut lintel and three-piece jambs, accompanied by windows on either side. At the extreme left, a two-bay, two-storey extension features two cart entries with timber lintels, brick relieving arches, and square window openings above. Additionally, there is an owl hole located in the right gable.
