Description

The sundial in the quadrangle of Ashworth Hall dates from 1641, although this date may not be definitive. It is made of stone and features a copper dial and gnomon. The sundial is supported by an octagonal baluster on a stone pedestal. This information is noted in R Heape's work, "Inscribed Dated Stones and Sundials in and adjoining the Ancient Parish of Rochdale," published in 1926.
