Description

Nos. 2 and 2A, known as Thurstons House, are two houses located on the east side of Huddersfield Road in Diggle. They were built in the late 18th century but incorporate earlier work, possibly dating back to 1749. The houses are constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone and feature a graduated stone slate roof. The building has a three-bay, three-storey layout with various extensions, including a small two-storey wing at the rear.

The structure has quoins and a 20th-century porch added to the third bay, which incorporates earlier elements, including a two and four-light double-chamfered stone mullion window. The other ground floor windows are 20th-century bow windows. The first floor features five, seven, and ten-light windows, while the second floor has five, seven, and eight-light windows, all with recessed flat-faced stone mullions. There are four ridge chimney stacks, and the gables and rear include one, two, three, and five-light windows.
