Description
Fern Lee Farmhouse and adjoining cottages dates from the late 18th or early 19th century. The house is built of watershot, hammer-dressed stone, with a graduated stone slate roof. It is a double-depth, three-storey building, with later additions to both sides. The main house retains a six-light window to the ground and first floors, and a four-light window to the second floor, all featuring recessed flat-faced stone mullions and king mullions. There is a gable chimney stack. A later addition to the left of the main house is set back and includes a 20th-century porch. The section to the right also has set back additions; the first is a three-storey double-depth building with 20th-century garage doors on the ground floor and mullioned windows above (some of which are blocked). The second addition is a two-storey cottage with a square-cut door surround and three- and five-light mullion windows, mirroring the style of the original house.
