Description
Greenfield House at Greenfield Mill is an early 19th-century house built for mill owner James Buckley. It is constructed from ashlar and hammer-dressed watershot stone, topped with a graduated stone slate roof. The house features a double-range plan with three bays and two storeys, and has a projecting plinth. The central door, which has a radial fanlight, is flanked by small windows and is supported by pilasters with a dropped keystone. The first and third bays contain triple sash windows on each floor, with square-cut surrounds and stone separating mullions. These windows have head and sill bands, and the upper floor windows retain their glazing bars. The second bay on the first floor has a central 12-pane sash window. The eaves cornice and gable chimney stacks have moulded oversailing courses. Additionally, there are two and three-light mullion gable windows, as well as 12-pane sashes. The rear of the house features five, two, and five-light recessed flat-faced mullion windows on each floor.
