Description

The statue of Robert Ascroft, located in Alexandra Park, Oldham, was created in 1903 by sculptor F W Pomeroy. It features a stepped and moulded granite plinth with a cornice that supports a bronze figure of Ascroft. The plinth includes an inscription that commemorates Robert Ascroft, who served as the Member of Parliament for Oldham from 1895 to 1899 and was known as "The Worker's Friend." The statue was funded through public subscription.
