Description

The fountain, built in 1865, is located in Alexandra Park, Oldham. It is constructed from stone and polished granite. The design features a large stone basin with a central shaft, which has a circular stone base and is surrounded by four outer columns, all made of polished granite and topped with foliate capitals. This design is mirrored on a smaller scale to support an upper basin, from which a figure holding a dolphin emerges from reeds. An inscription on the lower basin indicates that the fountain was presented by Joseph Radcliffe, the mayor of Oldham, in 1865.
